Abstract:

The Regional Seminar for Policy makers on Women's and Girls' Education was organized at Chiangmai, Thailand, during March 7-13, 1995. The primary aim of the seminar was to examine the requisite principles and strategies, financing and budgets with respect to adjust the national EFA plans to promote women's and girl's education based on the equity principles. The objectives of the seminar were: to identify ways and means in which national plans have taken special measures to promote women's and girl's education based on the equity principle, to prepare a set of policy and implementation strategies for integration of gender issues into EFA plans, to develop guidelines for monitoring and ensuring the realisation of gender sensitive EFA plans,and to prepare a project proposal outline for regional co-operation for policy formulation and implementation of equitable education. |
