This project, started from 20 January-5 February 1991, focuses on inter-sectoral basic needs assessment mission to Cambodia. It also mentions about historical education, the administration and management of the education system, education budget, strategy and activities to improve the quality of educational faculties, etc. The principal objectives of the mission were: (1)-to gather and examine the available information from national, international and bilateral agencies involved in Cambodia's effort for national reconstruction in areas related to UNESCO's field of competence. (2)- to examine and assess existing and emerging policies and priorities in relation to present and future national reconstruction and rehabilitation programme within the framework of the United Nation General Assembly resolutions mentioned above. (3)-to identify possible areas of international cooperation with a view to strengthening existing programme and to prepare the ground for the reintegration of displaced person and refugees on return to Cambodia in the spirit of national reconciliation. (4)-to develop programme profiles in areas that would address the priority needs of the country and support and complement existing rehabilitation programme supported by the other international organizations. (5)-to prepare a report for the Director General of UNESCO on the principal observation s of the intersectoral mission and de-brief the government of the State of Cambodia, the other UN agencies and the NGO's based in Cambodia and Bangkok on the findings of the mission. |
